Continental joins the Star Alliance and offers unbelievably low fares from Washington to San Francisco ($141 all in RT) and then the next day Washington to Denver ($96 all in RT)?????
They are gone now.
The flights were available on either Continental or United aircraft. So the new guy in town steps in and slashes prices from United hubs to United hubs. I just don't understand how this Alliance is good for the airlines at those prices. A loss leader makes no sense in this economy. It was great for us flyers and I hope we see more of it, but what is it saying to United, it's new partner?
