Eric's email alerts us all to this credit card offer that combined with the current Continental Mileathon promo, leads to a very nice haul.

Here is his email:

Thanks Eric. I wish I had not already gotten this card in the distant past as this is indeed a nice combo. Chase cards are typically not churnable, so be sure this is your first time for this card.

A Great, Funny Human Reader Story

This is one of my favorite emails I have ever gotten. It shows the power of the written word, our own human frailties and our ability to laugh at ourselves.

To the author, I offer my heartfelt thanks for allowing me to share your story.

Hey, I just wanted to share with you a CITI card application experience and see if I could get some help/advice on what I did wrong.

So I wanted to do the whole apply for as many of the AA cards at once as I could thing. I remembered reading your posts about it and you had said it was best to do them all at once like right at the same time. Maybe I took that too literally or did something wrong or its a cookies thing with firefox, I dunno. But I wanted to go for all the apps.

When I did it for some reason the visa personal app was not working, so I went for 4 apps. The per/bus MC's the per. amex, and bus. visa.

I wanted to do them all at the "same time" I figured if their computer was doing them all at once it would not see the other apps. logical right? So I bring up all 4 apps. I fill out the info on each one. Once that is done, I hit the button at the bottom 1 after the other on all 4. I had 4 tabs open on firefox. They all process at the same time and I get to the review the info screen, which I should have paid more attention to, maybe I would have caught the problem then. But I was in such a hurry to get them processed I just hit the next button on each all 1 after the other and CITI was processing all 4 apps at the "same time" so I'm thinking awesome.

So back on the 1st tab, 1st one comes back, no decision. This was for the per. MC. It's got Application ID and a phone # if I want to call in for an immediate decision. I'm thinking no biggie, I'm sure I will get approved. I move on to the next tab, supposed to be for the bus. MC well I notice the picture at the corner is of the personal MC !? and then I look at the application ID and its the same ID as the personal in the other tab !!!! so I'm like SHIT WTF!? Then I look at the other 2 tabs all the same thing! They all show picture of the personal MC and all show the same App ID!

So somehow the 1st tab and app just took over and the other 3 never went though! Like I said I dunno if its some kinda cookies thing?

Do you use firefox? Do you turn cookies off ? So now I'm all upset and in a panic and have no idea what happened or what to do.

I'm like I better get another app in, so I try the personal AMEX but get an error when I submit it, something about can't be processed. So at that point I just gave up and said screw it, the 1 app for the MC per is enough. I did get approved for it a couple days later and I just got the card in the mail today. But overall the whole thing was a huge disappointment. I have excellent credit and was expecting to get at least 2 or 3 approvals and whole lotta miles.

So any idea where I went wrong or what happened? Did I just take the whole"do the apps at once" thing too far? Do you just fill out all the apps and then just submit 1 at a time, waiting for a decision before doing the next?and then hitting the next and then so on ??? I'm just wondering how I had 4 apps for 4 different cards and somehow they all merged into the 1st one. I dunno, thought I would share my experience and see if you had any advise for me. Thanks again for all the hard work you do though.

I read every day!
thanks,

We have emailed one another since this email and our reader is cool. I learned that when I say "all at once" I should have said: "one right after another"

He will get them next time.

Thanks again.
