Solve a Riddle to Improve Your Standing with a Hotel Program

Last year I passed on some tips on how to increase your status with a major hotel chain. For every two notes of "thanks" I got, I received an email saying I was "making it too easy" and "diluting the programs" and "we would get caught"

So in response, and to protect from the search gurus, solve this riddle and see what happens to your account.

The are 3 major US hotel programs. One has a famous family member who is always in the news with the latest in fashion and clubs.

One we upgraded last year. It is another family name and Bill is still the boss, I think.

And the third one reminds me of heavenly bodies we see at night, and lumber. Strange combination isnt it? I like the third option this year.

As a base member of this program I am a preferred customer, but it gets me very little. If I can move up one level, I will be a precious metal that many wedding rings are made of. I like that metal.

This hotel program uses a type of credit card that is co branded with one of the major three types of cards. The credit card program also has cards that are not co branded and stand on their own. They are precious metals as well, and the top level is higher than the metal rings are typically made of. (Hint> the top level of the NWA elite program)

If I call this hotel program customer service # and tell them I have just gotten a NON cobranded card of the highest level and I am supposed to give them a 2 letter code they will upgrade me to a precious metal used in wedding rings. I know I just did it.

Now for the two letter code. Those of you from Traverse City, Michigan, my hometown, have an advantage. There is a bar on Front St named with the correct two letters.
